Well...everybodies knows no talking to mobile phone at petrol station. You should switch off the engine. Engine...people know why. But what can the mobile phone do?..
Mobile phone is a battery operated radio transmitter and by theory this can generate the spark.
When you switch on the phone, there is electrical transmission occur around the phone. How much?? Maximum just 2 watt. Can this 2 watt electrical power initiate a spark? NO..cannot. If you just talking to phone, nothing will happens. It will never generate an electrical spark. But if you suddenly changing the battery while its switch on or interrupt the transmission ( eg, phone fell down and the battery disconnected)...that will cause the spark!. Malang tak berbau kan? Who knows...
So... what happens with Ipod or laptop?. Mp3 has low voltage. So..nothing to be worried. But laptop..need to be consider. If its switch on..and suddenly batterry get disconnected...same thing was believed to happens.
Also...careful of nylon stocking. Thats can generate a spark.
